A Couple of Ponderings

1) When I moved, I decided that I wouldn't tell any of my new friends about my blog. For some strange reason it makes me uncomfortable when select people I know read it. Weird since a whole lot of people I have never met before read it and that seems to be okay. Maybe I'm just old fashioned in that I want people who I see on a regular basis to get to know me the regular way. Unfortunately Scrabble Boy found out that I have a blog and now wants to read it, especially since I told him he couldn't. Maybe it's my paranoia that if our friendship ever dissolves he'll keep reading it and I'll have a silent Internet stalker. I already have one of those and really don't feel like having two. Anyone else get a little weirded out when people they know in person read their blogs?

2) I've decided that I have to be the dumbest person on the planet. Most people fail at something once and then don't let it happen again. I unfortunately do not seem to be able to learn from my mistakes. Every time the same thing starts all over again my head and heart get in a big huge war and my heart wins out. This time it's not going to be that way! Nope! My head is winning and I'm not going to let myself go down that path again. Must. not. give. in...

I agree heartily; it's very weird when people you know read your blog. I'm especially anti the idea of my family reading mine. It's strange because they already know me so well and it's not like I'm saying anything new on here... that's just how it is.

You. Must. Not. Give. In. *sends strong woman vibes*

Oh man, it's so much easier to have you guys (my blog pals) read all of this than my friends or family. I just recently allowed some family to start reading my stuff. But I find it causes me to edit in ways I normally wouldn't. I was actually just pondering starting another anonymous site under my pen name (which I use to post absolute truths on the internet). It would give me the freedom to write what is really in my heart and head. So I hear you.

As for #2 - good for you. It's good you can recognize the pattern before you've already completed it again. Don't be too hard on yourself. I'm sure people of all ages would say that this is one lesson we spend our whole lives perfecting.

I was against blogging. My hubby started first. I was afraid that he'd be too frank and/or blog about work.

He set up a big, elaborate page and massively e-mailed our family and all of our friends with the details. The funny thing is that he lost interest and rarely blogs as flickr is his new obsession.

Good thing that I took over. I blog on our family page and at my page. The idea was an easy way to keep our family and friends connected to what we're doing.

Only a few friends and most of our family actually read our blogs.

Yes, having people that really know you changes things. For one, you have to consider what and how you say things and who you discuss. Otherwise, trouble would follow.

#2. You realized the problem and that's half the battle. Your young and have plenty of time to get things right.

I understand what you mean, and it's great that you decided not to give new friends the link. I love that my family (sister and cousins, not my parents) reads my blog, but friends can be different. I made the mistake of giving the link to mine to my small group at church and while only one person started reading it, it was a person who I really wish wouldn't. At that time, my relationship with him wasn't weird but after that, he did something seriously creepy, and it made me so angry that I couldn't blog about it. What's the use of a blog if you can't rant when you need to?

I love the idea of having an anonymous blog, but so don't have one. My family reads it, my friends read it, my boyfriend reads it, my boyfriends family reads it... I have thought of starting another, completely anonymous blog with a true pseudonym and absolutely no revealing details. I've always liked the name Aidan - maybe she could be my blogging alter-ego?

Allie: I can totally feel the "strong woman vibes!" Thanks!

Lynette: I definately end up editing when I think about certain people I know are reading my blog. Terribly annoying.

Diane: That's interesting that you did a complete turn around on blogging. Glad you're here though :)

Stacy: I hear you. Sometimes I consider actually blogging about people that I know read my blog but luckily my better judgment kicks in. Someday it might just happen though...

Heidi: I think if I had a boyfriend and his family read my blog that would definately kick up my paranoia a notch. Talk about sensoring. I could totally see you as an Aidan :)

Sam: Thanks for the vote of confidence. I hardly see how you can possibly qualify for the dumbest girl on the planet. You'll have to explain that one the next time we chat.
