Hopefully Zac Effron is Real

Tonight a group of friends and I watched Hairspray (love, love, love that movie!). In the middle of it one of my friends decided to pipe up and give us his opinion of the show:

Friend: This is so stupid! Like this could ever happen in reality!

Me: But it's a musical, it's not supposed to be real.

Friend: I know, but I'm a realist... I like things that are real.

Ironically, the last few movies he's highly recommended are: Transformers, Next (the main character can see 2 minutes into the future), and The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

My mother is like this with movies - always so confused when it doesn't seem realistic to her and always saying, "That could never happen," or "I don't understand any of this," - it's just a movie, Mom! I haven't seen Hairspray, but my girls asked for it for Christmas and so I will have a chance to see it soon. Take care and have a great weekend. Kellan

Reminds me of my sister-in-law who came back from seeing The Lord of the Rings to say, 'It was too much of a fantasy.' Not sure what she was expecting, but I think one movie preview/commercial or any knowledge of the book should have set her straight ahead of time.

I'm guilty of the same thing as your friend. I love pointing out inconsistencies or departures from reality in all shows or movies. Which is totally retarded given that all the books & movies I love are science fiction, fantasy, Arthurian legend, anything Robin Hood, all things superhero and then the worst of all fictions - the chick flick LOVE story.

I don't know what makes me do it. But I do.

Guilty.

I almost rented Hairspray at Blockbuster last night. I should go back and get it, eh?

My dad does that, it's annoying sometimes. I'm sure I would love hairspray, i'm adding it to my blockbuster queue right now :) BTW, transformers are real, you usually plug them into the wall. I haven't seen Next, but if prophets can see the future, who's to say others can't? And Fantastic Four? Okay, I have no argument for that one :)
